ABOUT
Matt Dowling is a trial lawyer and partner at Cruser Mitchell with nearly 15 years of experience litigating a broad range of civil matters in state and federal court, both at the trial and appellate level. Matt’s practice is devoted to defending a wide array of businesses and individuals, focusing on claims for catastrophic injuries and/or wrongful death in complex premises liability litigation. He also has comprehensive experience handling a variety of complex commercial, professional liability, and product liability litigation and arbitration matters.
Prior to joining Cruser Mitchell, Matt spent a few years in the plaintiff’s bar where his practice focused on catastrophic personal injury and product liability litigation. His prior experience as trial counsel with plaintiff firms gives him an edge on his adversaries, having handled cases from their perspective. Since moving to the defense bar in 2015, Matt has authored and argued dozens of successful dispositive motions, often defeating claims or entire actions through motions to dismiss or for summary judgment.
While known for his substantial experience with every aspect of litigation from pre-suit investigations to appeals, including first-chair trial practice, Matt believes the most important attribute he brings to the table is the ability to quickly grasp the issues and threats to his clients. Matt has a demonstrated history of addressing the unique and complex challenges facing a client’s business and litigation needs. By providing early analysis of the potential exposure in a case, his clients are able to make more informed strategic decisions to manage risk. Understanding that businesses rarely want to be involved in litigation, Matt works closely with his clients to tailor a comprehensive litigation strategy to resolve a claim, either through settlement, trial or appeal.
Matt is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in all of Georgia’s Courts, both state and federal. He has also practiced pro hac vice in Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
