ABOUT
Michael is a partner at Cruser, Mitchell, Novitz, Sanchez, Gaston & Zimet, LLP and a trial lawyer. During his first 12 years at Cruser Mitchell, Michael practiced extensively in the areas of civil rights, professional liability (including legal, medical, and broker malpractice), employment practices liability, products liability, and insurance coverage, and was named partner. Michael then ran a boutique plaintiff’s firm specializing in professional liability litigation, including medical, legal, and broker malpractice, civil rights, employment practices liability, and insurance coverage. After returning to Cruser Mitchell, Michael continues his practice in all of these areas.
Michael brings to his practice the benefit of having practiced extensively (and having tried cases to verdict) on both sides, prides himself in listening to his clients to understand what a “win” is, and then working with his clients to craft a creative strategy to get them there. His perspective of having practiced as both a defense lawyer and plaintiff’s lawyer gives him invaluable experience in evaluating risk and developing litigation strategies for his clients.
Michael grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, and he graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a degree in English Literature. He then attended the University of Georgia School of Law. After law school, Michael had the honor of serving as chambers staff attorney for the Honorable J.L. Edmondson, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Michael lives in the Briarcliff area of Atlanta. When he’s not lawyering, he enjoys increasing his grilling skills, spending time with friends and family, and convincing himself that he is an amateur bartender. Michael also volunteers in his community, including having held leadership positions at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Lakeside High School Orchestra Association, and Lakeside High School Band Association.
