ABOUT
Pete DeMahy has tried over 200 jury trials and in more than 40 years of practice, has led the defense of legal matters in professional liability, products liability, labor and employment, premises liability, D&O liability, insurance coverage disputes, property and casualty defense, complex and catastrophic injury, E&O, commercial litigation, auto and general liability, and environmental litigation.
Pete’s clients include the Florida Association of Insurance Agents and the Professional Insurance Agents of Florida. He has also been called upon as an expert on issues of legal malpractice, general liability, insurance coverage and bad faith. Earlier in his career, Pete served as adjunct professor of law at St. Thomas University School of Law, the University of Miami, and Florida International University, where he taught courses on products liability and ethics.
Pete is a frequent speaker on issues of interest to the insurance industry, and has lectured at the Assurex International and the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) conventions. Pete previously served a two year term on the Florida Supreme Court Bar Admissions Committee.

Representative Cases
Pete DeMahy was recognized by Courtroom View Network (CVN) for his defense in the trial of McCorkle, et al. v. Milliken and Company, et al. CVN described the case outcome as one of the top 10 most impressive defense verdicts of 2018. The wrongful death lawsuit was brought by one of five passengers who died in a 2013 airplane crash.
Pete L. DeMahy won a 2017 defense verdict from a West Palm Beach jury after a three-day trial in a case alleging auditor malpractice. The win was reported by DRI in the “And the Defense Wins” feature of its monthly newsletter, The Voice.
