Rondiene E. Novitz and Magda DeMoya Coyle obtained summary judgment for the defendant in a premises liability case dismissing the plaintiff’s case against them. The plaintiff claimed he sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted at a hotel and alleged negligent security against the hotel. The plaintiff suffered a significant arm injury with a permanent deformity. The hotel argued they took reasonable safety precautions to protect its guests and that it was the plaintiff who initiated the altercation. In its decision granting the defendant’s motion for summary judgment, the Court agreed that the hotel was not negligent, as all reasonable safety precautions had been taken and the hotel employees reacted properly when notified of the altercation.
